“The Levites, Their Families And Their Cities”

The sons of Levi: Gershom, Kohath and Merari.

…These are the families of the Levites according to their fathers.

The sons of Samuel: the firstborn [Joel], and the second Abiah.

These are [the men] whom David appointed over the song in the Temple of Hashem, after the Ark had come to rest.

Aaron and his sons offered sacrifices on the Altar of the Burnt-Offering, and on the Incense Altar, [caring] for all the labor of the Holy of Holies and atoning for Israel, according to all that Moses, the servant of God, had commanded.

but the fields of the city and its villages were given to Caleb son of Jephunneh.

The sons of Aaron were given the cities of refuge: Hebron, Libnah with its outlying area, Jattir and Eshtemoa with their open areas,

The Children of Israel gave these cities to the Levites with their open areas.

2 And these are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei.
3 And the sons of Kehath: Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel.
4 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi, and these are the families of the Levites to their fathers.
5 To Gershom; Libni his son, Jahath his son, Zimmah his son.
6 Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, Jeathrai his son.
7 The sons of Kehath: Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son.
8 Elkanah his son, and Ebiasaph his son, and Assir his son.
9 Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, and Saul his son.
10 And the sons of Elkanah: Amasai and Ahimoth.
11 Elkanah-the sons of Elkanah; Zophai his son and Nahath his son.
12 Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, Elkanah his son.
13 And the sons of Samuel: the firstborn was Vashni and Abiah.
14 The sons of Merari: Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son.
15 Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, Asaiah his son.
16 And these are the ones that David stationed to sing in the House of the Lord since the Ark was deposited.
17 And they were ministering before the Tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting with song until Solomon built the House of the Lord in Jerusalem, and they stood according to their custom at their service.
18 And these are those who stood [at their stations] and their sons; of the sons of the Kehathites, Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel.
19 The son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Toah.
20 The son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai.
21 The son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah.
22 The son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah.
23 The son of Izhar, the son of Kehath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.
24 And his brother Asaph, who stood at his right, Asaph the son of Berechiah, the son of Shimea.
25 The son of Michael, the son of Baasiah, the son of Malciah.
26 The son of Ethni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah.
27 The son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah, the son of Shimei.
28 The son of Jahath, the son of Gershom, the son of Levi.
29 And the sons of Merari their brethren were on the left; Ethan the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch.
30 The son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah.
31 The son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shemer.
32 The son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.
33 And their brethren the Levites were appointed for the entire service of the Tabernacle of the House of God.
34 And Aaron and his sons were offering on the altar of the burnt offerings and on the altar of the incense for all the work of the most holy offerings and to atone for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.
35 And these are the sons of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son.
36 Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son.
37 Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son.
38 Zadok his son, Ahimaaz his son.
39 And these were their settlements for their palaces in their border: for the sons of Aaron, to the family of the Kehathites, for theirs was the lot.
40 And they gave them Hebron in the land of Judah and the open land around it.
41 And the field of the city and its villages they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
42 And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of refuge: Hebron, and Libnah and the open land around it, and Jattir, and Eshtemoa and the open land around it.
43 And Hillen and the open land around it, and Debir and the open land around it.
44 And Ashan and the open land around it, and Beth-Shemesh and the open land around it.
45 And from the tribe of Benjamin, Geba and the open land around it, and Alemeth and the open land around it, and Anathoth and the open land around it; all their cities were thirteen cities among their families.
46 And to the sons of Kehath who remained from the family of the tribe: from half the tribe of Manasseh, by lot ten cities.
47 And to the sons of Gershom to their families; from the tribe of Issachar, and from the tribe of Asher, and from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.
48 To the sons of Merari to their families: from the tribe of Reuben, and from the tribe of Gad, and from the tribe of Zebulun, by lot twelve cities.
49 And the Children of Israel gave the Levites the cities and their suburbs.
50 And they gave by lot from the tribe of the sons of Judah, and from the tribe of the sons of Simeon, and from the tribe of the sons of Benjamin; these cities that they called by names.
51 And from the families of the sons of Kehath-the cities of their border were from the tribe of Ephraim.
52 And they gave them the cities of refuge: Shechem and the open land around it in Mount Ephraim, and Gezer and the open land around it.
53 And Jokmeam and the open land around it, and Beth-Horon and the open land around it.
54 And Ajalon and the open land around it, and Gath-Rimmon and the open land around it.
55 And from half the tribe of Manasseh, Aner and the open land around it, and Bileam and the open land around it, to the family of the remaining sons of Kehath.
56 To the sons of Gershom, from the family of half the tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan and the open land around it, and Ashtaroth and the open land around it.
57 And from the tribe of Issachar, Kedesh and the open land around it, Dobrath and the open land around it.
58 And Ramoth and the open land around it, and Anem and the open land around it.
59 And from the tribe of Asher, Mashal and the open land around it, and Abdon and the open land around it.
60 And Hukok and the open land around it, and Rehob and the open land around it.
61 And from the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee and the open land around it, and Hammon and the open land around it, and Kiriathaim and the open land around it.
62 To the sons of Merari who remained from the tribe of Zebulun, Rimmono and the open land around it, Tabor and the open land around it.
63 And from the other side of the Jordan of Jericho to the east of the Jordan, from the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the desert and the open land around it, and Jahzah and the open land around it.
64 And Kedemoth and the open land around it, and Mephaath and the open land around it.
65 And from the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead and the open land around it, and Mahanaim and the open land around it.
66 And Heshbon and the open land around it, and Jazer and the open land around it.
