Jeremiah On Veracity Of The Prophecy

“G-d’s Truth”

Whether you accept or reject it, it remains.

Unlike man-made prophecies in the Greek book – New Testament.

No dying messiah is prophesied. Neither nailing on the cross. Nor dying and coming back to life and coming and going and coming soon. All these are never found in the Hebrew Scripture (Old Testament).

“The Prophecy Being Fulfilled”

King Zedekiah son of Josiah, whom Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylonia, enthroned in the land of Judah, reigned in place of Coniah son of Jehoiakim.
37:1
He did not listen [neither] he [nor] his servant [nor] the people of the land, to the words of Hashem, which He spoke through Jeremiah the prophet.
37:2
King Zedekiah sent Jehucal son of Shelemiah and Zephania son of Maaseiah the Kohen to Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “Please pray on our behalf unto Hashem, our God.”
37:3
Thus said Hashem: Do not delude yourselves, saying, ‘The Chaldeans will surely depart from us,’ for they will not depart!
:9
He was in Benjamin Gate, but an official was there — his name, Irijah son of Shelemiah son of Hananiah — and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “You are deserting to the Chaldeans!”
:13
Jeremiah replied, “Falsehood! I am not deserting to the Chaldeans!” But he did not listen to him, and Irijah seized Jeremiah and brought him to the officers.
:14
So Jeremiah was put into the dungeon which was behind the shops, and Jeremiah stayed there many days.
:16
Jeremiah then said to King Zedekiah, “In what way have I sinned to you and to your servants and to this people, that you have put me into prison?
:18
and where are your prophets that prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylonia will not come upon you and upon this land’?
:19

1 And Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned as king instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.
2 And neither he nor his servants nor the people of the land hearkened to the words of the Lord which He had spoken through Jeremiah the prophet.
3 And King Zedekiah sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to Jeremiah the prophet, saying: “Pray now for us to the Lord our God.”
4 Now Jeremiah was coming and going among the people, and they did not put him into prison.
5 Now Pharaoh’s army had left Egypt, and the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard news of them and withdrew from Jerusalem.
6 And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, saying:
7 So said the Lord God of Israel; So shall you say to the king of Judah who sent you to Me to inquire of Me; Behold, Pharaoh’s army that has come out to aid you is returning to his land Egypt.
8 And the Chaldeans shall return and wage war on this city and capture it and burn it with fire.
9 So said the Lord: Deceive not yourselves, saying, “The Chaldeans shall surely withdraw from us,” for they shall not withdraw.
10 For if you smite the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and but wounded men among them remain, each man shall rise in his tent and burn this city with fire.
11 And it came to pass when the army of the Chaldeans withdrew from Jerusalem because of Pharaoh’s army,
12 that Jeremiah left Jerusalem to go to the land of Benjamin to share [land] from there among the people.
13 And he was in the Benjamin Gate, and there was the captain of the guard, and his name was Irijah the son of Shelemiah the son of Hananiah, and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “You are defecting to the Chaldeans.”
14 And Jeremiah said, “A lie! I am not defecting to the Chaldeans.” But he did not heed him, and Irijah seized Jeremiah and brought him to the officers.
15 And the officers were wroth with Jeremiah and they struck him, and they put him into the prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe, for they had made it into a prison.
16 For Jeremiah had come to the dungeon and to the cells, and Jeremiah stayed there many days.
17 And King Zedekiah sent and took him, and the king asked him secretly in his house, and he said, “Is there a word from the Lord?” And Jeremiah said, “There is.” And he said, “You shall be given into the hand[s] of the king of Babylon.”
18 And Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, “What have I sinned against you and against your servants and against this people, that you have put me into the prison?
19 And where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon shall not come upon you or upon this land’?
20 And now, please hearken, my lord the king, may my supplication fall before you, and do not return me to the house of Jonathan the scribe, and let me not die there.”
21 And King Zedekiah commanded, and they committed Jeremiah to the prison yard and [he commanded] to give him daily a loaf of bread from the street of the bakers until all the bread of the city was gone, and Jeremiah stayed in the prison yard.

Jeremiah (Yirmiyahu in Hebrew)

Opposed by false prophets.

Ingratitude and unfaithfulness caused Israel’s downfall that Jeremiah witnessed.

Idolatry is always the end-result of disobedience against G-d.
