On Daily Holy Bible Reading

IYOV

The Book of Iyov (Job) in the Hebrew Bible.

Right at the heart of the age-old question: Why do bad people prosper while good people suffer?

This is a clear test of one’s worth to be blessed by G-d.

The book begs the question WHY?

“Job’s Response”

“Hope And Trust”

God has handed me over to an evildoer, and He consoles me through the wicked.
16:11
My face is wrinkled from weeping; death’s shadows are upon my eyelids —
:16
but for no iniquity in my hands; and my prayers were virtuous.
:17
Even now, my Witness is in heaven, my Attester is on high.
:19
For [my] allotted years will come, and then I will embark on a path from which I will never return.
:22

1 Now Job replied and said,
2 “I have heard such [things] many [times]; you are all troublesome consolers.
3 Is there an end to words of wind? Or what will bring clarity to you that you should answer?
4 I, too, could speak like you; if your soul were instead of my soul, I would join words together against you and shake my head at you.
5 I would encourage you with my mouth, and the movement of my lips would cease.
6 Should I speak, my pain will not cease, and should I stop, what will leave me?
7 but now, it has wearied me; you have silenced all my company.
8 You have shrivelled me up; it has become a witness. My leanness has risen against me; it testifies before me.
9 His wrath has torn me; yea, He hates me, He has gnashed His teeth at me. My Adversary sharpens his eyes upon me.
10 They open their mouth at me, with disdain they strike my cheeks; united they assemble against me.
11 God delivers me to a fool and heals me through the hands of the wicked.
12 I was tranquil, but he crumbled me to pieces; He held me by my nape and shattered me, and stood me up as a target for him.
13 His archers surround me; he splits my kidneys and does not have compassion. He spills out my gall upon the ground.
14 He breached me [with] breach upon breach; he runs toward me like a mighty warrior.
15 I sewed sackcloth on my scabs and sullied my radiance in the dust.
16 My face became shrivelled from crying, and upon my eyelids is the shadow of death.
17 But not because of any violence in my hands, and my prayer is pure.
18 O earth! do not cover my blood, and let there be no place for my cry.
19 Even now, behold my Witness is in heaven and He Who testifies for me is on high.
20 My intercessors, my friends, to God my eye pours out tears.
21 Would that a man could reason with God as a man with his fellow.
22 For numbered years will come, and I will go on a way from which I will not return.

Divine wisdom or Divine justice may not be evident during the test with hardship and suffering. But, full trust in G-d is the best response no matter how difficult the situation may be or become.
