NACHUM

Following Jonah‘s success in leading the people of Nineveh to repentance, along comes another generation that fell into sinning.

Nahum prophesied about the consequences of their disobedience. Idol worship is always a key ingredient and is a recipe for destruction.

Nahum Lays The Sins Of Nineveh And Its Impending Punishment

Brought about by G-d’s vengeance against Nineveh as the enemy of His people (the Jews).

Idol worship is always present as part and parcel of sinning against G-d.

But in spite of the horror, hope is never absent to those who sincerely repent of their transgressions or wrong doings.

“Hashem Is Vengeful”

A prophecy regarding Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
1:1
Hashem is a jealous and vengeful God; Hashem is vengeful and full of wrath; Hashem is vengeful to His adversaries and reserves hostility for His enemies.
1:2
Hashem is slow to anger, but He has great power and He will not absolve [iniquity]. Hashem — His path is in a storm and in a tempest, and clouds are the dust of His feet.
1:3
Hashem is beneficent, a stronghold on the day of distress, and mindful of those who take refuge in Him.
:7
… I will eliminate idol and molten image from the temple of your gods; I will make your grave [there], because you have become abhorrent [to Me].
:14

1 The harsh prophecy concerning Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
2 The Lord is a jealous and vengeful God and is full of wrath; the Lord avenges Himself upon His adversaries, and He bears a grudge against His enemies.
3 The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, but He will surely not acquit; the Lord-His way is with a tempest and with a storm? and cloud is the dust of His feet.
4 He rebukes the sea and dries it up, and He has dried up all the rivers; Bashan and Carmel are cut off, and the blossoms of the Lebanon are cut off.
5 Mountains quaked because of him and the hills melted, and the land raised up from before Him-and the inhabited earth and all who dwell thereon.
6 Who can stand before His fury and who can rise amidst His wrath? His wrath has reached [the earth] like fire, and the rocks have been broken up by Him.
7 The Lord is good-yea, a stronghold on a day of trouble- and is cognizant of those who trust in Him.
8 But, with an overrunning flood He shall make a full end of its place, and darkness shall pursue His enemies.
9 What do you think of the Lord? He will make a full end; the trouble will not rise twice.
10 For, while the thorns are entangled and the drunkards are drinking, they are consumed like dry stubble, fully ripe.
11 From you has emanated one who plots evil against the Lord, one who counsels wickedness.
12 So said the Lord: Though they be at peace-and likewise many-and likewise they have crossed and passed over, I will no longer afflict you.
13 And now I will break off his yoke from you, and I will rend your bonds asunder.
14 And the Lord shall command concerning you; No more [offspring] of your name shall be sown; from the house of your god I will cut off a graven image and a molten image; I will make your grave, for you have become worthless.

I Am Against You

Knowing that G-d is One and Alone. Thus, has jealousy against those claiming that there are others pertaining to G-d (Trinity, Triune or 3-in-1 G-d).

G-d being slow to anger proves that He does not hasten His revenge. But it does not mean He will acquit either.
