The Book of Mishlei (Proverbs) in the Hebrew Bible

The book begins with a call to seek wisdom and understanding, and it describes the benefits that come from doing so, such as knowledge and discernment.

King Solomon then contrasts the ways of the wicked with the ways of the righteous, emphasizing that the righteous will inherit the land and dwell in safety.

Learn about morality, justice, relationships, wealth, and most important, the fear of Hashem.

Proverbs On The Source Of Wisdom, Knowledge And Understanding

The absence of the fear of G-d leads to futility in life.

It is one’s own choice or freewill to seek or not to seek G-d in sincerity and truth.

If you just settle on what you are taught and told by fellowmen, will they be able to save you when you will be judged?

Think. Watch. Listen. Read. Learn. Live…

“Fear Of G-d”

But one who chastises the scoffer acquires shame for himself, and he who rebukes the wicked [acquires] a blemish.
9:7
Do not rebuke a scoffer, lest he hate you; rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.
:8
… make known to the righteous and he will add [to his] learning.
:9
The beginning of wisdom is fear of Hashem, and [the beginning of] understanding is knowledge of the sacred.
:10
If you have become wise, you have become wise for your own good, and if you have scoffed, you alone will bear [responsibility].
:12
“Stolen waters are sweet, and bread [eaten] in secret places is pleasing.”
:17
But he does not know that dead men are there, that those she invites are in the deepest grave.
:18

1 Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn her seven pillars.
2 She has prepared her meat; she has mingled her wine; she has even set her table.
3 She has sent her maidens, she calls on the wings of the heights of the city,
4 “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here.” To the one devoid of sense, she says to him,
5 “Come, partake of my bread and drink of the wine I have mingled.
6 Leave, you simpletons, and live, and step in the way of understanding.”
7 He who chastens a scorner takes disgrace for himself, and he who reproves a wicked man, that is his blemish.
8 Reprove not a scorner lest he hate you; reprove a wise man and he will love you.
9 Give a wise man, and he will become yet wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.
10 The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord, and the knowledge of the holy ones is understanding.
11 For with me shall your days increase, and they will add to you years of life.
12 If you have become wise, you have become wise for yourself, and if you scorn, you will bear it alone.
13 The woman of folly is turbulent; [she is] simple and knows nothing.
14 She sits at the entrance of her house on a chair on the heights of the city,
15 to call the passersby, who are going straight on their ways,
16 “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here, and whoever is devoid of sense,” and she says to him,
17 “Stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”
18 But he does not know that shades are there; her guests are in the depths of the grave.
