Chapter 142

Psalms Chapter 142 At Times Of Distress

G-d alone is accessible when all else are none to be found.

Do not wait until critical moment. Reach out to know G-d now in truth according to His word as spoken to His servants the prophets.

“G-d As Refuge”

With my voice I cry out to Hashem, with my voice I plead with Hashem.
142:2
Look to the right and see that I have no friend; …

I have cried out to You, Hashem; I have said, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.”

Attend to my cry, for I have been brought very low; …

… the righteous will crown themselves with me, when You bestow kindness upon me.

1 A maskil of David, when he was in the cave, a prayer.
2 [With] my voice, I cry out to the Lord; [with] my voice, I supplicate the Lord.
3 I pour out before Him my speech; my distress I recite before Him.
4 When my spirit enwraps itself upon me, and You know my path. In whichever way I go, they have hidden a snare for me.
5 Looking to the right, I see that no one recognizes me; escape is lost from me; no one seeks my soul.
6 I cried out to You, O Lord; I said, “You are my refuge, my lot in the land of the living.”
7 Hearken to my cry for I have become very low; save me from my pursuers for they have overpowered me.
8 Take my soul out of confinement to give thanks to Your name; because of me the righteous will crown You, because You will recompense me.

The book of Tehillim (Psalms) with 150 prayers and hymns were composed by various authors, mainly King David, in ancient Israel. It has become one of the most cherished books in the Jewish bible. For generations, the Tehillim has been a source of inspiration and comfort to many.The Book of Joshua, in the Hebrew-Jewish Bible, narrates the entry of the Children of Israel into the Promised Land of Canaan and their conquest and partition of the land under the leadership of Joshua, as Moses’ successor. It details the Israelites’ miraculous crossing of the Jordan River, the fall of Jericho, the battles of Ai and Gibeon, and the division of the land among the twelve tribes. Joshua resonates with Moses, in which he exhorts the Israelites to remain faithful to G-d and His commandments.

The Book of Mishlei (Proverbs) in the Hebrew Bible. The book begins with a call to seek wisdom and understanding, and it describes the benefits that come from doing so, such as knowledge and discernment.Judges chronicles the history of the Israelites during the period between the conquest of the Land of Israel and the establishment of the monarchy.
