“King Of Israel Doing What Is Evil”

In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel — Azariah, son of Amaziah king of Judah, became king.
15:1
He did what was proper in the eyes of Hashem, entirely as his father Amaziah had done.

Hashem inflicted disease upon the king; he was a leper until the day of his death, …

Azariah lay with his forefathers and they buried him with his forefathers in the City of David; his son Jotham reigned in his place.

In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah king of Judah, Zechariah son of Jeroboam became king over Israel, [and reigned] in Samaria for six months.

He did what was evil in the eyes of Hashem, as his forefathers had done; he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he caused Israel to sin.

Shallum son of Jabesh conspired against him, and he struck him in front of the people, killing him; and he reigned in his place.

This was [the fulfillment of] the word of Hashem that He had spoken to Jehu, saying, “Four generations [of your descendants] will sit upon the throne of Israel for your sake.” and so it was.

Shallum son of Jabesh became king in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah, and reigned for one month in Samaria.

Menahem son of Gadi went up from Tirzah and came to Samaria, and he struck down Shallum son of Jabesh in Samaria, killed him, and he reigned in his place.

In the thirty-ninth year of Azariah king of Judah, Menahem son of Gadi became king over Israel, … He did what was evil in the eyes of Hashem; … that he caused Israel to sin, all his days.

Menahem lay with his forefathers, and his son Pekahiah reigned in his place.

He did what was evil in the eyes of Hashem; he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he caused Israel to sin.

His captain Pekah son of Remaliah conspired against him, striking him in Samaria … he killed him and reigned in his place.

In the fifty-second year of Azariah king of Judah, Pekah son of Remaliah became king over Israel, [and reigned] in Samaria for twenty years.

He did that which was evil in the eyes of Hashem; …

Hoshea son of Elah conspired against Pekah son of Remaliah, and he struck him, and killed him; and he reigned in his place, in the twentieth year of Jotham son of Uzziah.

In the second year of Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel, Jotham, son of Uzziah king of Judah, became king.

He did what was proper in the eyes of Hashem, just as his father Uzziah had done, he did.

However, the high places did not cease; the people continued to sacrifice and burn incense at the high places. He built the upper gate of the Temple of Hashem.

Jotham lay with his forefathers and was buried with his forefathers, in the City of David his forefather. His son Ahaz reigned in his place.

1 In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam the king of Israel, Azariah the son of Amaziah the king of Judah, became king.
2 He was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem, and his mother’s name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
3 And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, like all that Amaziah his father did.
4 However, the high places were not removed; the people were still slaughtering sacrifices and burning incense on the high places.
5 And the Lord brought a plague upon the king, and he was stricken with zaraath until the day of his death, and he lived in a house of retirement, and Jotham the king’s son, who was appointed over the palace, judged the people of the land.
6 And the rest of the events of Azariah and all that he did, are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.
7 And Azariah slept with his forefathers, and they buried him with his forefathers in the city of David, and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.
8 In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah the king of Judah, Zechariah the son of Jeroboam reigned over Israel in Samaria six months.
9 And he did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord, as his forefathers had done; he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which he caused Israel to sin.
10 And Shallum the son of Jabesh revolted against him and struck him before the people and slew him, and reigned in his stead.
11 And the rest of the deeds of Zechariah are written in the book of chronicles of the kings of Israel.
12 This was the word of the Lord which he had spoken to Jehu, saying, “Your descendants of the fourth generation will sit on the throne of Israel,” and it was so.
13 Shallum the son of Jabesh became king in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah the king of Judah, and he reigned a full month in Samaria.
14 And Menahem the son of Gadi went up from Tirzah and came to Samaria; and he struck down Shallum the son of Jabesh and slew him, and reigned in his stead.
15 And the rest of the deeds of Shallum and his revolt that he revolted, are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
16 Then Menahem attacked Tiphsah and all those therein and its boundaries from Tirzah; since he did not open, he attacked it; he ripped open all its pregnant women.
17 In the thirty-ninth year of Azariah the king of Judah, Menahem the son of Gadi reigned over Israel ten years in Samaria.
18 And he did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord; he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat that he caused Israel to sin, all his days.
19 Pul the king of Assyria invaded the land, and Menahem gave Pul one thousand talents of silver that his hands might be with him to strengthen the kingdom in his hand.
20 Menahem exacted the money from Israel, from all the mighty warriors, that each man give fifty shekels of silver. And the king of Assyria returned and did not remain there in the land.
21 And the rest of the events of Menahem and all that he did, are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
22 And Menahem slept with his forefathers, and Pekahiah his son reigned in his stead.
23 In the fiftieth year of Azariah the king of Judah, Pekahiah the son of Menahem reigned over Israel in Samaria for two years.
24 And he did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord; he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he caused the Israelites to sin.
25 And Pekah the son of Remaliah his officer, revolted against him, and he struck him down in Samaria in the inner chamber of the king’s palace, near the palace and near the lion, and with him were fifty men of the Gileadites; and he slew him and reigned in his stead.
26 And the rest of the events of Pekahiah and all that he did, are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
27 In the fifty-second year of Azariah the king of Judah, Pekah the son of Remaliah reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty years.
28 And he did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord; he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.
29 In the days of Pekah the king of Israel, Tiglath-pileser the king of Assyria came and took Ijon, Abel-beth-maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee, the entire land of Naphtali; and he exiled them to Assyria.
30 And Hoshea the son of Elah revolted against Pekah the son of Remaliah, and he struck him and slew him, and reigned in his stead, in the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzziah.
31 And the rest of the events of Pekah and all that he did are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
32 In the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah the king of Israel, Jotham the son of Uzziah the king of Judah became king.
33 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was Jerusha the daughter of Zadok.
34 And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord; like all that his father Uzziah did, he did.
35 However, the high places were not removed; the people were still slaughtering sacrifices and burning incense on the high places. He built the upper gate of the house of the Lord.
36 And the rest of the events of Jotham and all that he did, are written in the book of chronicles of the kings of Judah.
37 In those days, the Lord began to incite Rezin the king of Aram and Pekah the son of Remaliah against Judah.
38 And Jotham slept with his forefathers, and he was buried with his forefathers in the city of David his father, and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.
