JOB

On Daily Holy Bible Reading

IYOV

The Book of Iyov (Job) in the Hebrew Bible.

Right at the heart of the age-old question: Why do bad people prosper while good people suffer?

This is a clear test of one’s worth to be blessed by G-d.

The book begs the question WHY?

Job Is Told About The Animals In The Wild

Who looks after them?

It may appear random. But, no. G-d is behind all the affairs of the world and the whole universe.

That includes you above and over them all.

“Continuation…”

Do you know the time when the mountain goats give birth, or anticipate the labor pains of the gazelle?
39:1
Would a wild ox be willing to serve you? Would he lodge by your feeding trough?
:9
The wing of the ostriches is a delight; the stork with [its] pinions and feathers.
:13
for God has denied her wisdom, and He did not apportion to her understanding.
:17
Did you give the horse his strength? Did you adorn his throat with fearsomeness?
:19
He laughs at fear and never trembles; he does not recoil before the sword.
:22
Is it by your wisdom that the hawk hovers, spreads its wings toward the south?
:26
Is it by your command that the eagle soars, or makes his nest on high,
:27

1 Do you know the time for the mountain goats to give birth? Do you wait for the hinds to calve?
2 Do you count the months when they will be filled, and do you know the time of their birth?
3 They kneel; they bring forth their young; they send forth their pangs.
4 Their children grow strong; they grow up on the grain; they go forth and do not return to them.
5 Who sent the wild donkey free, or who loosed the bands of the wild donkey?
6 Whose house I have made the wilderness, and whose dwellings the salt land.
7 He mocks the tumult of the city; he does not hearken to the shouts of the driver.
8 He spies out the mountains for his pasture, and he searches after every green thing.
9 Does the wild ox wish to serve you; will it lodge by your manger?
10 Can you tie a wild ox to a furrow with his rope or will he harrow the valleys after you?
11 Will you rely on him because his strength is great, or will you leave your toil for him?
12 Will you believe him that he will return your seed or that he will gather in your threshing floor?
13 The wing of the renanim rejoices, or the winged stork or the nozah.
14 For she leaves her eggs on the ground, and she warms herself on the earth.
15 She forgets that a foot will crack it, and the beast of the field will step on it.
16 She is hardened against her young ones as though they were not hers; though her toil is in vain, she has no fear.
17 For God caused her to forget wisdom, and He did not give her a share of understanding.
18 Like the time that she goes off on high; she scorns the horse and its rider.
19 Did you give the horse his strength? Did you clothe his neck with fierceness?
20 Do you make him leap like a locust? The glory of his snorting is terrible.
21 They spy in the valley and rejoice with strength; he goes forth toward the arms.
22 He scorns fear and is not dismayed; neither does he retreat because of the sword.
23 The quiver upon him rattles, the blade of the spear and the javelin.
24 With tumult and shaking he hollows out the ground, and he does not believe that it is the sound of a shofar.
25 To many shofaroth he says, ‘Hurrah!’ He smells battle from afar, the thunder of princes and shouting.
26 Is it because of your understanding that the hawk grows a wing, that it spreads out its wings to the south?
27 Or is it by your order that the eagle flies high, and that he lifts up his nest?
28 He dwells on the rock and lodges, on the crag of the rock and the stronghold.
29 From there he searches for food; his eyes behold it afar off.
30 And his eaglets gulp down blood; and where there are slain, there he is.”

Divine wisdom or Divine justice may not be evident during the test with hardship and suffering. But, full trust in G-d is the best response no matter how difficult the situation may be or become.
