Chapter 26
Proverbs Chapter 26 Takes On More Contrasting Comparison Between Being Wise Against Being A Fool
Accepting compliments is one among the many you must not take seriously. For you do not know if it is truth or lie.
Measure for measure.
And there is more…
“Everything In Its Own Time”
“Man’s Own Righteous Thoughts Is Not At All Acceptable”
Like a bird that wanders off, like a swallow that flies off, so an unwarranted curse comes [back] to he [who utters it].
26:2
Do not answer a fool according to his foolishness, lest you also be considered like him.
:4
Like one who loads a stone into a sling, so is one who gives honor to a fool.
:8
Like a dog that returns to his vomit, [so is] a fool who repeats his foolishness.
:11
Have you seen a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
:12
The door turns on its hinges, and a lazy person on his bed.
:14
The lazy one is wiser in his own eyes than seven who answer sensibly.
:16
[Just as] when there is no wood the fire goes out, [so] when no one complains, strife is silenced.
:20
He who digs a pit will fall into it, and he who rolls a stone will have it turn back upon him.
:27
1 Like snow in the summer and like rain at harvest, so is honor unbefitting for a fool.
2 Like a wandering sparrow and like a flying swallow, so will a vain curse come home.
3 A whip is for the horse, a bridle is for the donkey, and a rod is for the body of fools.
4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly lest even you become like him.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly lest he be wise in his sight.
6 He who sends a message by the hand of a fool wears out legs and “drinks violence.”
7 The thighs seem raised to a lame man, and [that is] a parable in the mouth of fools.
8 He who gives honor to a fool is as binding a stone in a slingshot.
9 A thorn came up in a drunkard’s hand and a parable in the mouth of fools.
10 The Master created all, and He hires a fool, and He hires transients.
11 As a dog returns to his vomit, so does a fool repeat his folly.
12 If you see a man who is wise in his own eyes, there is more hope for a fool than for him.
13 The lazy man says, “There is a middle-sized lion on the road, a mature lion is between the streets.”
14 As a door turns on its hinge so does a lazy man on his bed.
15 The lazy man buries his hand in the cauldron; it wearies him to bring it back to his mouth.
16 A lazy man in his own eyes is wiser than seven men who give advice.
17 A passerby who becomes embroiled in a quarrel that is not his is like one who grabs a dog by its ears.
18 Like one who wearies himself shooting firebrands, arrows, and death,
19 so is a man who deceives his friend and says, “Am I not joking?”
20 Just as without wood, the fire goes out, so without a grumbler the quarrel quiets down.
21 As charcoal is for coals and wood is for fire, so is a quarrelsome man for kindling strife.
22 Words of a grumbler are as though waging battle, and they penetrate the innermost parts of the body.
23 Burning lips and a wicked heart are like silver dross overlaid on earthenware.
24 An enemy dissembles with his lips and within him he places deceit.
25 When he entreats with his voice, do not believe him, for there are seven abominations in his heart.
26 When the hatred is covered with darkness, his evil will be revealed in public.
27 He who digs a pit will fall into it, and he who rolls a stone-it will return to him.
28 [He who has] a false tongue hates those crushed under him, and a smooth mouth effects rejection.

Ruth is one of the greatest converts who ever lived.
Though not a lengthy book, Ruth is filled with significant story in the Hebrew Bible that tell the tale of a foreign woman, who later becomes an ancestor of King David.
Lamentations is a collection of five powerful reflections mourning the destruction of the first Temple and the exile of the Jewish people from Jerusalem.
